Beverage packaging hasn’t changed much from its original brick and mortar (B&M) concept, and yet consumers are increasingly buying drinks online. Much can happen between the click of an online order and its landing on a consumer’s doorstep: materials may be added for protection, products may be mixed for variety packs, and each product may be handled four times more often due to re-packaging.
All this handling costs time and money and generates excess waste throughout the three categories of packaging: primary (e.g. the can); secondary (e.g. the 6-pack); and tertiary (the shipping over-box with packing paper).
Xinova is seeking new primary packaging designs that would eliminate the need for secondary and tertiary packaging from the eCommerce supply chain. Solutions aren’t limited to liquid beverages (powdered Gatorade, for instance, is within scope).
During this 20-minute webinar, RFI manager Shivani Ludwig described designs for a shippable, multi-serve beverage containers that are eco-friendly and built for the complicated journey through the E-Commerce supply chain and the scope of this RFI. As always, there was a Q&A after the main presentation.
