Being human is about moving forward, changing, growing.Inventing.For as long as I can remember, I’ve been interested in making things better, whether processes, physical objects, or digital artifacts.
As a teenager, I was captivated by the MIT 2.70 lab in mechanical engineering, where students are given a box of parts and go on to build machines that are pitted against each other.As a student there, every day I would walk the hall and see the signs that said “biohazard”, “10,000 volts when light is lit” (and the light was always lit), or the “radioactive” symbol.I loved being surrounded by people dreaming of a new way and working hard to make it happen.
In my professional life, I’ve been fortunate to be involved in a number of innovative endeavors. The Newton project at Apple, the early days of the Apache Software foundation, Disney’s internet of things enabled Playmation project.I’ve been energized by opportunities to do something new that will have a meaningful impact on people’s lives.
At Xinova, I love the challenge of figuring out how to apply the networked model of collaboration that was so successful with open source software, to domains outside of software, particularly the processes of innovation.
