Thanks to Xinova, one of the big bonding sessions we’ve had at SmallTech Consulting have been the brainstorming sessions for RFIs, and that’s been such a gift. Collaboration is so important. Not every project calls on inventing together like Xinova consistently have us do.”
– Leslie Field, PhD, Xinova Innovator
Before diving into the new super-battery-powered RFI, let’s take a moment to reflect on the importance of family—or networks, or community. Work is such a huge part of life that our day-to-day office colleagues are essentially a second family. Hopefully yours are as caring and committed a group as ours at Xinova. This month’s featured innovator, Leslie Field, PhD, went ahead and invented a family-oriented organization full of idealists committed to meaningful projects that save lives and protect the environment. Her love of her family and dedication to her team of innovators is literally saving the planet. It’s a testament to the transformative power of community. Check out her inspiring story.
The story of Xinova’s platform in its current form began one year ago this month with the acquisition of Seattle-based Atlas Informatics, formerly Ivy Softworks. This Aqui-hire expanded Xinova’s headcount and talent dramatically, continuing the shift from a fund model to an operating company by adding a product development team. We thereby matured into the hip, agile organization we needed to be to develop the world’s first innovation market network. Words can’t express how proud I am of what Xinova has accomplished and who we have become; not just because of the team’s achievements, but for the amazing culture we’ve established together, and the shift in our hiring process responsible for bringing in many more fantastically capable new Xinovians.
Atlas was the seed crystal of our engineering and design groups, and a keystone of our new Marketing, Operations, HR and Finance teams. The skills they brought to designing our market network platform have been transformative. Just as important has been the dynamic culture of can-do professionalism that has rippled across the global innovator network. I have a lot to be thankful for this Thanksgiving. My steadily expanding Xinova family is a big part of that.

In order to better understand lateral disruption, you must first understand the capability you’re delivering, not the technology, said Alexander, who explained, ‘People don’t buy a product or technology, they buy what it enables them to do.’’

I have walked on the frozen Arctic ocean, have worked at times in seemingly endless twilight, have seen a polar bear and the aurora borealis, and have met the most incredible people close to home and all over the world. You never know what life will throw at you when you’re doing work like this, aimed at saving lives today, and saving the future for our kids.”
