We are excited to announce that we will soon be launching the new innovation portal for our Innovator Network! Not an innovator with us yet? Sign-up and you will hear more and more from us over the next month about specific features and improvements to look forward to with the new Innovator Network portal, but we first want to share a little with you about why we are making this investment in our platform.
We brought in a great group to form and subsequently expand our in-house development and product team teams, rebuilding the platform from the ground up. We are doing this to grow Xinova and our network of innovators to be more efficient and tackle a wider variety of problems. The following are just some of the ways the new platform will help accomplish these goals:
More efficient and transparent review process
Our process of narrowing hundreds of ideas down to the most interesting ones for our clients includes a wide variety of people and has a lot of moving parts. We have optimized the workflow, which should result in solutions passing through the entire review process more quickly, with greater visibility and feedback to you, the inventor.
Expand to new kinds of projects and opportunities
Historically, the RFI (request for invention) has been our flagship opportunity. While the RFI is here to stay, we are looking to expand how we utilize our highly skilled network to include things outside of invention. A recent example of this is our RFAs (request for application) available on an invited basis. As we grow, the breadth of opportunities we support will expand.
Facilitating collaboration and leveraging the network
A crucial part of scaling is being able to distribute some work within the network. This will provide our network members an additional way to stay engaged, be compensated for their expertise, and allowing us to continue growing Xinova. There are some actions we have been sending out to the network for years in small batches, but now we will look to systematically share with select network members the process of literature reviews, export reviews, technology reviews, and authoring of RFIs.
Broaden the skillset and membership of the network
As we expand into new kinds of projects we need to have a network of innovators who match the new kind of skills needed. These new areas include, but aren’t limited to, business, finance, technical writing, design, and prototyping. We look forward to bringing experts in these fields into the network, as well as encouraging our existing members to update their skills to reflect this broader range. These additional skillsets will aid in commercializing your innovations. The additional people will be met with additional and different opportunities than we’ve offered in the past.
Improve the user experience
Everything is being built with you in mind. We will be studying how people use the new portal and listening closely to user feedback to continuously improve it. Our goal is to make it as easy as possible for you to invent with us and we ultimately want to make the new platform more than a place that you submit solutions. We want it to be place that you can come and “hang out” with some of the sharpest innovators in the world.
Your login information will remain the same in almost every case, and the URL will auto redirect, so all you need to do is log in to experience the new site. We will be releasing the site in early August, but here’s a screenshot as an early teaser:
